Acer Iconia Tab A700 challenges ASUS Transformer Prime

The ASUS Transformer Prime considered by many to be the best Android tablet in the market. It sports a 10.1 inch super IPS+ display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It packs a 1.3 GHz quad-core Cortex-A9 NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor under the hood. Lastly, it ships running Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), which will be upgraded to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on the 12th of January. No other Android tablet such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Motorola Xoom comes close to these specs. Now, there is one tablet that challenges the Transformer Prime. This is the Acer Iconia Tab A700, which will be officially unveiled at CES 2012.

Acer refused to disclose any other details about its upcoming high-end tablet aside from the slate’s screen resolution, processor, and software. Its 10 inch display will rock a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It will pack a quad-core Tegra 3 processor. Lastly, like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, it will ship running Ice Cream Sandwich.

Although Acer failed to mention if and when the Iconia A700 will be landing in the UK, it did say that the tablet was scheduled for release on the second quarter of this year. We don’t mind not getting our hands on the tablet sometime on this year’s second quarter, just as long as it lands here.
