Huawei Honor first to receive Ice Cream Sandwich update

Since the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was first to ship running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), we all thought the big names in the industry would be next in line to get the ICS update. These include the Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Sensation, and the Motorola Razr. However, the Huawei Honor has beaten everybody to the punch. This makes the Honor the first handset to receive the update. Although the search giant released a “demo build”, Huawei still managed roll out the update before anyone else.

Previously, only Galaxy Nexus owners got to enjoy every new feature and enhancement the latest iteration of Android had to offer. Now, the Honor sports a Tron-like interface, Face Unlock (unlocking the handset by showing your face on the phone’s front-facing camera), and new multi-tasking capabilities.

Since Huawei rolled out the update to the Honor, we’re hoping other Android manufacturers would follow suit. We’re sure Samsung, HTC, Motorola, LG, and Sony Ericsson are more than capable of rolling out Ice Cream Sandwich to their handsets. If a smaller company can get it done, can’t the top Android moguls do the same?
