Acer Iconia Tab A200 running Ice Cream Sandwich and packing Tegra 2 coming early in 2012

Android tablets running Honeycomb such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Motorola Xoom, unfortunately, are not as appealing as Apple’s iPad 2. We’re hoping an Android tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich changes this. This coming 2012, there is a tablet running Android 4.0, which we hope shows promise. This is the Acer Iconia Tab A200.

Expected to launch in the UK on next year’s 1st quarter, the ICS tablet will sport a 10.1 inch display and a rubberized back for added grip. It will be available in 8GB and 16GB variants. It sports a disappointing 2 megapixel front-facing snapper, but no rear-facing camera. It will pack an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor under the hood coupled with 1 GB of RAM for added performance. However, we would have wished for the Tegra 3 instead.

Although some of the Iconia Tab A200’s specs may be disappointing, we’re hoping Ice Cream Sandwich will make up for this. Furthermore, we’re hoping it will be reasonably priced if it plans on having a slight advantage over its iOS rival.

The initial A200s sold outside of the UK will be running Honeycomb 3.2, but will be getting the ICS update sometime in January. ICS running A200s will be available in the UK sometime in the first quarter of 2012.

Will you be interested in the Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Acer Iconia Tab a200, or would you rather get your hands on an Apple iPad 2? Give us your thoughts.
