iOS code reveals iPhone 5 and iPad 3
Are you bummed the iPhone 4S came out instead of the iPhone 5? If this is the case, 9to5Mac believes the rumored smartphone with its radical design is still coming as well as the iPad 3.
Reference to these rumored devices has been uncovered buried within the iOS 5.1 beta build. In the code, the iPhone 4S was referred to as ‘iPhone4,1’. The iPhone 5 was referred to as ‘iPhone5,1’.
Aside from the rumored iPhone, future iPads have also been mentioned. Referred to as ‘iPad2,3’, ‘iPad3,2’, and ‘iPad3,3’, it’s hard to determine which one is the successor of the iPad 2 or if these are versions for various networks. However, the iPad 3 is expected to launch early in 2012m, sporting a retina display.
Other than the mention of these upcoming devices in code, nothing more is mentioned. Nothing about features and specs has been mentioned nor the release date. We’re just going to have to wait until next year to finally see if the rumors are true. We’ll finally get to see if the rumors surrounding the iPhone with a curved design and larger display and the iPad with a retina display are true.
