iPhone 5 scrapped by Apple at the last minute
If you were hoping for the iPhone 5 and got the iPhone 4S instead, you be thinking if Apple’s 5th generation iPhone really did exist. According to the Business Insider’s source, the phone really did exist, claiming to have played around with the prototype. However, it was scrapped at the last minute by Apple. Well, three months before its official launch last October.
The source adds that the iPhone 5 was a completely redesigned smartphone. It had a bigger touchscreen; it had an aluminum back just like the iPad 2; it had a home button that was not physical; it was slimmer than normal; it was more powerful but had a limited battery life; it came with a 10 megapixel camera; it also had Siri-like app called the ‘Assistant’, and in the end, Jobs was just unhappy with it.
Of course, since there’s no way to verify if these reports are true or not, take this information with a lot of salt. However, a lot of Apple enthusiasts would have been thrilled to see all the features mentioned above in a smartphone. Sure, the iPhone 4S sports the dual-core A5 chip, an 8 megapixel camera, and Siri. But other than that, it looks exactly like the iPhone 4, which disappointed a lot of Apple fans. With the Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Samsung Google Nexus just a few days away from hitting stores, we’re not convinced Apple’s current iPhone will remain on top.
