Gingerbread update finally rolling out to Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 on O2
We are all well aware of the follies a number of customers experience when it comes to the updates that roll out for their Android phones. In the past, HTC Desire users experienced a rollercoaster ride with the Gingerbread update. HTC initially announced that the update would never roll out to the handset. Soon after, they retracted the announcement saying the update would be rolling out to the Desire. However, it would be a customized and smaller version of the Android 2.3 update. Now, another legacy handset will be getting the Gingerbread update. This is the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 on O2.
You might be thrilled to know that the Gingerbread update will finally be rolling out to your XPERIA X10, but take caution. According to Telefonica, users can download the update at their own risk. The company is warning its customers that the update may slow down the device.
The X10 was released in March of 2010. This means that the smartphone has been around for almost two years. So, it’s understandable Sony Ericsson took this long to issue the Gingerbread update for the smartphone. However, it’s surprising they released the update despite having flaws.
The Gingerbread update will be rolling out to the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 on O2 sometime next week. Download at your own risk.
