Virgin Mobile does the HTC ChaCha
The last of the UK network operators to release the new HTC ChaCha has done so today, Virgin Mobile now join Vodafone, O2, Orange, T-Mobile, 3 Mobile and Talk Mobile in offering pay monthly contract deals for the new Facebook phone on their virtual network.
Virgin Mobile deals for the HTC ChaCha start at £10.21 line rental and rise to £51.06 on their highest tariff, consumers can buy a free HTC ChaCha from £30.64 per month on an 18 month contract which includes 600 minutes, unlimited text messages and a whopping 1GB of internet usage.
The HTC ChaCha offers web access and smart phone functionality, which is provided by the android operating system and an 800 MHz processor as well as touch screen capability all within a unit which measures 114 mm x 64 mm wide was being 10 mm thick and weighing 120 g in weight.
The phones display screen is 2.6 inches in size, within which it is able to offer TFT capability and touch screen functionality, with the added bonus of being up to display up to 256,000 colours within a pixel screen resolution which is quoted at 480 x 320 pixels. The screen utilises Gorilla glass, to ensure scratch resistance whilst the QWERTY keyboard which is located underneath the main display screen offers simple text and data entry. The unit also comes with proximity and accelerometer sensors as means of automating various tasks.
Connectivity is provided by a multitude of options which include GPRS, EDGE as well as blue tooth and micro-USB connectivity, in conjunction with Internet access either through its own HSDPA connection or the alternative of Wi Fi, providing the means to access the net through available hotspots. The unit also comes with a useful micro-SD card slot which enables the user to enhance the available memory capacity of the unit from its standard 512 MB up to a more substantial 32 GB.
The ChaCha also comes with a 5.0 megapixel camera that operates at 2590 x 1944 pixels and includes auto focus, face detection as well as geo-tagging and an LED flash, whilst also providing the option of recording video as an alternative, whilst a secondary camera is also provided which is a VGA quality.
This latest HTC phone also comes with satellite navigation, a variety of games, a Facebook dedicated key as well as YouTube integration. An MP4/MP3 multimedia player is provided as is an organiser, document viewer, voice memo facility and the benefits are predictive text input.
