Gingerbread Update for HTC Desire Delayed Once More
Who doesn’t know about the award winning HTC Desire? The mobile phone of the year award winner has been one of the most sought after smartphones back in 2010. However, since it has been more than a year since the smartphone was launched, it is in need of the latest software updates from Google. Sadly, its 2.3 Gingerbread update has been delayed once more. ![]()
According to 3 Mobile, the Taiwanese-made smartphone will not receive the 2.3 update despite setting a deadline for May. This announcement was made on the network operator’s Twitter account, expressing its apologies to its users for the delay.
The Tweet reads, ”Re HTC Desire 2.3: Very sorry to say that HTC hasn’t been able to meet the late May timings that were set. We’re awaiting extra info, more news soon.”
This has caused frustration among the smartphone’s users. Many smartphones by HTC have received the update or come pre-installed with Gingerbread. These smartphones include the HTC Desire S, the Incredible S, the Wildfire S, and of course the Sensation. Furthermore, the network operator was first unsure when the update would roll out. It then announced that the update would possibly arrive late in April. This was delayed and pushed to the start of May, then the end of May. Until now, there are still no updates.
We are unsure what caused the delays, but Three is fast to point the finger at the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC. There have been reports that HTC has been working on the update and is planning to roll it out by June. When exactly this June is unclear, but we’ll let you know once we get the official scoop. Until then, you’ll have to wait a little longer to enjoy more from an enhanced virtual keyboard, copy/paste options, and so much more.
