Promised LG Optimus 2X Patch Delayed Until Mid June
The Guinness Book of World Records holder LG Optimus 2X may be the first dual-core powered smartphone, but it is riddled with technical issues. In fact, hordes of angry users created an online petition to create awareness about the smartphones shortcomings. In response to the online petition, the Korean phone manufacturer promised to roll out a patch by May to fix the problem. However, this patch has been delayed until mid June.
The problem started upon the release of this powerful handset. Users have reported random freezing and rebooting of the smartphone. Furthermore, there have also been reports of the smartphone getting unusually hot while charging. These issues spurred users to create the online petition.
Despite promising to roll out a patch to fix these issues my May, the Korean manufacturer admits to experiencing road bumps along the way. This led to the delay of the patch until mid June. Translated to English from LG’s Italian blog, the Korean manufacturer stated:
“We regret having to announce that the software version expected by the end of the month – in order to solve the instability problems alleged by some customers – has been postponed for several weeks.”
“Troubleshooting is taking longer than expected because of the systematic nature of the anomalies reported, involving only a part of owners of LG dual-core Optimus 2X.”
“However, we are aware of the hardships that some of you are having with our product.”
“All resources are stretched to the limit of LG to release the best software update as soon as possible, but at present we have to move the deadline for issuing to the second half of June.”
“We will do everything possible to bring forward this date.”
It seems that LG Optimus 2X users will have to wait for a few more weeks to resolve the technical issues on their dual-core handset. With the launching of new handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the HTC Sensation, LG would have to do something to keep up with the competition. Hopefully, there will be no more delays when mid June arrives, or else, consumers will have a negative perception of LG’s other devices such as the LG Optimus 3D and the up and coming LG Optimus Pad.
