The Difference between the HTC Desire and the Desire S
If you are wondering about the major differences between the award winning HTC Desire and its upgraded version the Desire S, there are quite a few. When the Desire first came out in February of 2010, we thought that mobile technology couldn’t get any better. It came with features we thought never possible. Now, the smartphone got the upgrade it deserves. 
At first glance, you might not spot any differences. However, if take a closer look, you will notice a lot of change. When it comes to color, the original Desire came in a bronze color. The S version now comes in black. Furthermore, the original version was forged from a single metal piece. The S version comes with a rubberized battery compartment, which is much easier to open. Its lens is also encased in rubber. When dimensions come to mind, the Desire S is also slightly smaller.
When it comes to their Android platforms, the Desire comes preinstalled with the stable Android OS version 2.1 (Éclair), which can be upgraded to the Android OS version 2.2 (Froyo). On the other hand, the Desire S comes with the most advanced platforms Android has to offer also found in up and coming HTC handsets such as the HTC ChaCha. It comes preinstalled with the latest Android OS version 2.3 (Gingerbread). 
When performance comes to mind, the HTC Desire S is more powerful. The Desire comes with a 1 GHz Snapdragon ARMv7 and 576 MB of RAM. Its predecessor comes with more modern 1 GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 and 768 MB of RAM. Although their processors are similar, the more up to date processor and additional RAM equates to more processing power. This equates to faster loading times and smoother multitasking.
The major differenced of the Desire and its predecessor is seen slightly in appearances and majorly in performance. With the HTC desire S, the Desire gets an upgrade it deserves.
