Consumers may be thinking why to opt for this new white edition when the release of the new HTC Desire HD and Desire Z are literally just around the corner, well with the larger screen of the HD edition making for a bigger phone and the slide out qwerty keyboard of the HTC Desire Z adding more weight the original design is still the most pocket friendly of the range.

Already one of the most popular handsets to date from the manufacturer, it is easy to see why the HTC Desire has proven to be a massive hit and thisnew white edition is surely going to tempt more people across to the ever expanding Android operating system. With all the bells and whistles you would expect from an Android Smartphone, this handset sees the inclusion of the HTC Sense UI, which allows high levels of customisation.

The HTC Sense user interface allows users to customise their handset seemingly infinitely. Up to seven homescreens can be customised with a wide range of widgets and apps along with themes and colour schemes. Should users wish to see a thumbnail overview of these homescreens, they can simply pinch to zoom thanks to the multi-touch input method.

The HTC Desire features a 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. Boasting the ability to display up to 16M colours, it utilises a pixel resolution of 480x 800 resulting in great looking display of onscreen content such as photos and video footage. The screen also features an accelerometer sensor which automatically rotates the user interface depending on the angle at which the phone is held. This feature makes it great for watching videos in full screen landscape mode. An optical trackpad is provided as an effective alternative (thumb operated) method of navigating menus within the user interface.

Expandable storage is provided in the shape of a microSD card slot which comes with a pre-installed 4 GB memory card. This can however be upgraded by installing a memory card of up to 32 GB, which is sure to prove ample for the needs of all but the most demanding users. In fact 32 GB is sufficient for storing a large digital music collection and a large number of video files along with any other data such as documents. The internal phonebook can store a large number of contacts and of course includes the Photocall feature.

Class 10 GPRS & class 10 EDGE provide the HTC Desire with its connections to cellular networks. In areas where 3G coverage is available, an HSDPA connection provides access to the Internet at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second, with uploads loads being available at 2 MB per second thanks to HSUPA. Built in Wi-Fi Technology utilises local Wireless Networks where available, resulting in an enhanced browsing experience thanks to the faster speeds. The HTML browser can also support online Flash content, allowing users to enjoy the Internet to its full potential.

As well as a number of other appealing features such as the versatile 5 mega pixel digital camera and the array of entertainment features, the HTC Desire provides everything you could possibly want from a Smartphone.

Therefore this makes it an ideal alternative to many of the more established mainstream Smartphones, based on its versatility in functionality, as well as its great aesthetics.
