The most affordable touch screen phone from Nokia has now been launched as a SIM Free handset, the Nokia 5230 is the lesser specced edition of the Nokia 5800 and comes in at a price tag that more people can afford.

First launched on Orange, Vodafone, Three and T-Mobile in January this year the Nokia 5230 has gone on to be released as a Pay As You Go phone and on O2 and Virgin Mobile deals, this latest launch as a SIM free phone means that you can choose which network to use your new 5230 with by inserting your own SIM card.

This budget Nokia touch screen phone has also been made available in three other colour schemes including the Nokia 5230 pink, white and purple editions.

The SIM free edition of the Nokia 5230 is unlocked to all network operators, you can either order a new SIM only deal on pay as you go or contract or use an existing card which will transfer all of your ‘saved-to-SIM’ contacts and your mobile number.

The Nokia 5230 is a S60 5th Edition device with a resistive touch screen and tactile feedback. The 5230 has a 3.2“, bright (640 x 360 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio) display with homescreen featuring Contacts Bar and media bar. Input methods include full screen QWERTY, alphanumeric keypad and handwrite recognition. Other features include a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR, flash Lite 3.0 and MIDP Java 2.1 APIs.

Using the Sseries 60 operating system, Nokia has created four slots for contacts so the user can quickly make calls and send messages to their most important contacts and also provide a feed from updates of social network accounts such as Facebook. Nokia has also introduced a media bar giving users immediate access to music, video, photos and the web.

The 5230 supports video formats including MPEG4, windows media video and flash video, making favourite videos easy to view. Transferring and accessing videos is even faster with the high-speed USB 2.0 connection.The 5230 has an expandable memory for up to 16GB of which can store up to 40 hours of video content.

The 5230 includes Ovi Maps and social networking integration such as Facebook, MySpace and YouTube.
