The LG GT540 brings the renowned Android OS to the manufacturer’s reputable handset. Offering a combination of pleasing aesthetics and great functionality, it seems to be aimed primarily at music fans and users of Social Networking sites.
The LG Optimus offers several means of connecting to both the internet and cellular networks. EDGE and GPRS (both class 10) offer the primary means of connecting to cellular networks. In order to connect to the internet, HSDPA is available at up to 7.2 Mbps in areas covered by 3G. Wi-Fi connectivity kicks in to provide a faster internet connection in areas where a wireless internet router is present. To connect to other devices, both micro USB and Bluetooth connections are also provided.
The 3 inch TFT touchscreen offers great quality display thanks to the pixels layout of 320×480 which displays 256,000 colours. The screen includes an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate.
Vibration and MP3 ringtones alert users to incoming calls and messages and allows customisation of the handset. Hands free communication can be achieved thanks to the inclusion of a speakerphone.
The internal phonebook in the LG Swift can store a vast number of entries and fields and includes the useful photocall feature. This allows a photo to be assigned to a contact and this is displayed on screen whenever that person calls. In order to store data such as media files, a micro SD slot can accommodate a memory card of 32 GB which enough to store most people’s music collections.
As mentioned, the Android OS is utilised providing a fast and smooth user interface. Social networking integration allows direct access to sites such as MySpace and Facebook. Many different formats of video and music files are supported by the internal media player. Additional features such as an organiser, document viewer, voice memo and T9 add to the everyday functionality of the handset.
The GT540 offers appealing styling which could be described as futuristic. The front is uncluttered with just a couple of buttons at the base of the touch screen.
The built in camera boasts 3.15 mega pixels (2048×1536 pixel resolution) for taking high quality digital photos. The autofocus feature simplifies the task of taking photos. The ability to shoot video offers an alternative method of image capture.
Its unique styling and excellent range of features give the LG GT540 a high level of everyday functionality and therefore a wide appeal within the market.
