Update Your Motorola Milestone with Android 2.1 Today
The much under valued Motorola Milestone (Droid to those across across the pond) can now be upgraded from the Android 2.0 firmware that comes pre-loaded on the phone to the new Android 2.1 which is already installed on the latest phones including the HTC Desire and Legend as well as the Google Nexus One.
I personally have a Milestone and have been extremely impressed with it so far, the update has added in some new features most noticeably an extra 2 – 6 customisable home screens which are now dictated with a small icon at the top of the screen and the new Voice Dialler.
Other new applications to the Motorola Milestone update include camcorder which is a direct link to the phones video camera mode, QuickOffice which I haven’t yet registered but looks to have pretty good document support and Moto Car Home which splits the screen into 6 shortcuts for easy selection when driving.
You can get the update here or wait for the over the air update to hit you soon. You simply need to plug your USB cable in and be connected to the internet to install the new software.

While I really like a physical keyboard, after coping with the Samsung Captivate for about quarter-hour, it is laborious to move back. At this time I’m debating whether or not to go to Verizon for the Droid X, cross to Sprint for the EVO, or stick with AT&T for the Captivate…decisions, decisions.
