Samsung Galaxy S Release Date & Price
The new Samsung i9000 Galaxy S has now been given a confirmed release date as a SIM Free phone, this new Android powered handset offers a fast 1GHz processor and is the second Samsung phone to feature the manufacturers Super AMOLED display alongside the Samsung Wave S8500.
Other key features include HD quality video recording and editing from its 5.0 mega pixel camera, the Android 2.1 operating system, a massive 4 inch touch screen display and advanced social networking and email support.
The new Samsung Galaxy S i9000 will be available unlocked to all networks from June 1st 2010 with an initial release date price of £549.99.

What is the source of the mentioned release date? The June 1st is mentioned from the beginning, but Samsung themselves keeps eery quiet.

Still no news on Samsung’s web sites!!
You would have thought by now we should be seeing some form of information on the Samsung sites, but nothing.
It’s almost as if the phone does not exist.

It is important to know that the 16GB internal memory version is going to be available sim-free.
Vodafone currently limit their monthly data allowance to 500mb/month and no there is no mention of wi-fi hotspot allowance.
If you examine polls in typical monthly data use for various smart phone users you will see that 500mb would have been ok five years ago but is nothing like enough for today’s internet with even limited use of youtube, picture content emails and web radio or TV – even on a mobile phone. 500mb /month is only adequate for business users and we aren’t all business men/women.
The 16Gb handset needs to be available sim-free otherwise there may be something of a black market on eBay for unwanted upgrades which is less than desireable.
Lets hope Samsung appreciate that Vodafone marketing basically seems to think it has people over a barrel if they want to get the best version of the best handset and Vodafone obviously plans on milking this lucrative exclusive-supply deal for everything they can get out of it.
Incidentally, not everyone wants, or can get Vodafone/Vodafone 3G. I live in the KW1 postcode. There is no Vodafone 3G signal for 100 miles.
We need the 16GB version to be available sim-free.
