Samsung Marvel Review – Samsung S5560
The Samsung S5560 AKA Samsung Marvel is the complete mobile phone, in as much that it offers a wide array of functionality that encompasses all manner of requirements that could be requested from a mobile phone. From its excellent touch screen through to its impressive camera capabilities, this new Samsung handset provides something for everyone. Released in November 2009, the S5560 has proved to be a viable alternative to many high end phones currently available.
The Samsung S5560 Marvel comes with a 3.0 inch TFT resistive touch screen, which is able to display 256,000 colours at a pixel screen size of 240 x 400 pixels. Imagery displayed on the screen is colourful in every way with a clarity that belies its mobile phone status. As its primary means of accessing the myriad of functionality included within the handset, the screen utilises the popular TouchWiz user interface, this impressive means of accessing functionality is responsive and extremely user-friendly. An accelerometer sensor is also included within the package and automatically rotates imagery to its correct orientation dependent upon the aspect of the image as well as the orientation of the phone.
The S5560 comes with a 5.0 mega pixel camera, which operates at 2592 x 1944 pixels and includes a raft of useful extras. These include auto focus, image stabilisation, smile and blink detection as well as an LED flash, for illumination where required. At this resolution the camera is able to provide excellent quality imagery that is good enough to print out. The camera doubles up as a video capture device, offering the user an alternative of either still or moving image capture.
The handset comes with an MP3/MP4 player and a stereo FM radio with RDS, as its primary means of entertainment. The player will play all major audio and video file types currently available, as well as the radio providing the alternative to downloaded music, by providing the ability to listen to radio broadcasts from regional and national radio stations. The handset comes with an internal memory of 78 MB, which can be supplemented by utilising the integrated microSD card slot, which provides the means to expand the memory up to 16 GB.
GPRS, EDGE, Wi Fi, blue tooth and micro-USB are all included within the package. This plethora of connectivity ensures the handset can be connected to a wide variety of devices, which includes nationally available hotspots for internet access, through its Wi Fi capability. As well as the ability to share files and synchronise with a PC.
The Samsung S5560 is an impressively packaged mobile phone, much like the Samsung M1 Vodafone 360. Offering a huge array of technology and functionality included within a particularly aesthetically pleasing casing, this handset will become a popular phone for a variety of reasons.

Very Annoyed With This Phone. Had It For 3 Days And Already Has A Massive Scratch Down The Screen. My Parents Paid Over £170 For It And It Was Not Worth The Money If It Was Going To Scratch That Easily. It Was In A Soft Case, In My Pocket. I Give The Phone A 5/5 But Now It Has Scratched I’d Give The Quality A 0.5/5. Very Annoyed And Dissapointed.

Hi,
I just bought it and after reading some reviews, the only “negative” point is the lack of 3G.
However I was also born without 3G and I’m still working
Have a nice time

Hi Hugh,
No, the Samsung S5560 does not have a slide out keyboard, you might be thinking of the newer Samsung B3410 or Samsung Genio Slide?

i’m planning to buy this phone .. but i like the samsung corby too,, uhm .. can you tell me which is better ? the corby or the marvel .. ??? help please
March 31st, 2010 at 11:27 am
Marvel is better compared to Corby. It has got 5 Megapixel camera with flash light and various modes.
It displays QWERTY keyboard in horizontal display which is not available in most of Samsung phones.
Its amazing looks definately beats corby. The best part is..it has mobile tracker and many in-built games.
Now you can make decision easily…:-)

@phel i have a s5560 and my best friend has a jet. we were comparing the two phones one day and we figured out the differences are: jet has a bigger screen and its more expensive than s5560. those are all we found. they have the same features, the same camera quality, we took photos of the same things and it came out the same. oh and the jet takes better videos than the s5560.
