The Nokia N97 Mini is Nokia’s answer to the bulkiness of the original N97 model, aimed at the fashion and youth market who don’t like to drag large devices around with them the N97 Mini will easily slip into your pocket and weighs a full 12g lighter at 138g. Features include a 3.2 inch touch screen which is 0.3 inches smaller than the N97 and a 5.0 mega pixel camera with autofocus and Carl Ziess optics which offers a dual LED flash rather than the single of the Nokia N97.
The Nokia N97 Mini offers a slightly smaller battery compared with the original model as you would expect with the smaller dimensions of the phone and the memory has been stripped back to 8GB from the massive 32GB offered by the N97, however this can still be expanded up to 16GB using MicroSD cards.
When it comes to the most important things their is not a lot of difference in the two models, both offer connectivity options via WiFi, Bluetooth, USB and fast internet download times thanks to HSDPA, the Nokia N97 Mini and N97 both support Flash when browsing and text input via the main keyboard is unaffected with the removal of the D-Pad of the original model.
When it comes to multimedia both phones are evenly matched offering a comprehensive multimedia player with access to thousands of music tracks, videos and movies via the Ovi store. the biggest difference between the Nokia N97 and Mini N97 is price and size, the smaller mini model is more affordable, more desirable and far more pocket friendly.
Opinion:
If you want the very best that Nokia has to offer but don’t want the bulk of the N97 then the N97 Mini is a great solution, you may find that you end up charging the phone more but its a small price to pay for the improved dimensions making it a far more portable handset.
