Review:
The silver Sony Satio holds the same specifications and features as the original black model, the only change is in the colouring of the exterior casing which is now finished in a sleek, silver colour. This is the most advanced Sony Ericsson mobile phone to be released to date partly down to its amazing 12.1 mega pixel camera and also due to its huge touch screen and S60 5th edition software.
The camera offers an abundance of features including panoramic stitching, red-eye reduction, face detection, smile detection, a Xenon flash and autofocus, these are the kinds of features you would usually only expect to find in a normal digital camera but Sony Ericsson have managed to pack them into this flagship mobile phone.
The Sony Satio offers WiFi, HSDPA, Bluetooth and USB for complete connectivity options, this means that it is easier than ever to share those high quality photos and video clips directly with friends who have compatible devices as well as online via social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
The large touch screen measures 3.5 inches diagonally and with Sony Ericsson’s S60 software makes for smooth operation, you can select and swipe widgets across the screen, navigate the menu system and use handwriting recognition to quickly compose emails and write text messages. The S60 OS also allows for auto screen rotation as well as supporting a whole host of applications including the pre-installed Google Maps for satellite navigation (which is great on the Satio’s large screen) as well as hundreds more which can be downloaded similar to that of the iPhone 3GS.
The Sony Ericsson Satio has an expandable memory and to get you started there’s even an 8GB MicroSD card included in the packaging, useful when filling the multimedia player with video and movies as well as storing all of your favourite photos and music tracks. Alongside the multimedia player there is also an FM radio and a very handy 3.5mm audi jack so that you can use your own set of headphones.
You may think that with all of this technology on-board the Sony Satio must weight a ton, well it’s actually pretty light at 126g and its overall dimensions are impressive to at 112 x 55 x 13mm, very pocket friendly for such a feature packed handset.
Opinion:
The silver Sony Ericsson Satio is not just for the keen photographer, this high specification device makes light work of surfing the internet, emailing, social networking and blasting out your favourite tunes via the Walkman 3.0 player. The Satio is a true all-rounder and offers the very latest features and software to come out of the R&D department at Sony Ericsson.
