It’s time to get personal, one of the major selling points of the new Tattoo phone is that YOU can design the outer casing rather than having to put up with a range of stock designs. HTC have launched a website that allows you to either choose from some seriously sexy designs or upload your own work to completely personalise you new HTC Tattoo phone.

Getting down to the nuts and bolts, the HTC Tattoo is an Android phone with access to the Android market where you’ll find thousand of new applications as you would with the iPhone, the difference here though is that the Android OS is open source and the number of new apps and services is expanding every day.

The HTC Tattoo offers a large 2.8 inch 240 x 320 pixel touch screen display which with HTC’s TouchFlo user interface lets you smoothly sweep through the menu system. The main features of the Tattoo include a 3.2 mega pixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.5G support and expandable memory, there’s also a host of pre-installed Google software including Google Maps for turn by turn navigation.

A comprehensive media player and FM radio will keep your musical desires entertained whilst you can plug your own headphones into the standard 3.5mm jack rather than the USB headphones supplied with previous HTC models. The Tattoo is far less bulky than many other Android phones such as the HTC Hero and Samsung Galaxy, it measures just 106 x 55 x 14mm and weighs a mere 113g – ideal for most pockets and handbags!

Opinion:

The HTC Tattoo offers a new approach to phone personalisation, if you treat your phone as you do your wardrobe in as much as you don’t really want to be seen out in the same outfit as someone else then the facility to design your own casing for the Tattoo is a fantastic idea. Social networkers have support for Facebook and other sites with one touch access so the Tattoo is also ideal for keeping up to date with your friends.

The phones mid-range price tag means that this is a far more accessible Android phone with more features than the likes of the cheaper T-Mobile Pulse, but offering a stylish design that puts it in line with more expensive models.
