The new Genio Touch from Samsung has just found another network partner, already available on O2, Orange, Virgin and as a pay as you go phone the first in the Samsung Genio series can now be matched to a range of Vodafone tariffs.
The Samsung Genio Touch can be ordered from free at just £25 line rental per month on Vodafone.
Review:
The Genio Touch is the first phone to be launched from the new Samsung Genio range, a further touch screen model with a slide-out Qwerty keypad known as the Genio Pro and another model with its keyboard on the front of the phone similar to the Blackberry styling is also due for release as the Genio Qwerty.
This first model is aimed at the youth and social networking market, being sold as one of the cheapest touch screen phones currently available the Samsung Genio Touch also brings back a long forgotten medium of personalisation in the form of Samsung Fashion Jackets, these are replaceable back covers that come in a range of Samsung colours to match your mood.
Getting back to the specifications of this new phone, the Genio Touch offers a good sized 2.8 inch touch screen, a 2.0 mega pixel camera, multimedia player, FM radio and an expandable memory, Samsung are marketing their new phone as a social networking handset as it incorporates pre-installed support for Facebook, Flickr, MySpace and YouTube via a range of widgets which you can place on your homescreen for easy access.
The Samsung Genio Touch features Samsung’s famous TouchWiz user interface but this has been tweaked slightly to give a more funky feel, this allows the user to easily navigate through the menu system and personalised their homescreen with a range of new widgets and apps.
All of these features have been squeezed into quite a light phone weighing just 93g, ideal for slipping into your jeans pocket or handbag and keeping up to date with friends on the move.
Opinion:
The Genio Touch is an ideal solution for anyone looking for a touch screen phone on a budget, also good for those that like to keep tbs on what their friends are up to without being tied to your home PC. The introduction of exchangeable back covers makes for a refreshing change and with the bold colours of the current fashion makes it easy to match your phone with your outfit.
There’s no Wi-Fi or 3G support with the Samsung Genio Touch so don’t expect high speed connections and upload speeds, however if you are simply checking out your mates Facebook updates and not surfing the internet than this latest touch screen phone is ideal.
