Review of the HTC Hero
The HTC Hero is a comprehensive HTC phone which offers an eclectic feel and ambiance about the handset. The slightly curved body of the new Android powered Hero is ergonomically designed to fit comfortably within the palm of a hand whilst its impressive touch screen is simple and user friendly to use. Released not long ago now, the HTC Hero has proven to be an effective and useful phone with a growing legion of fans.
This new Android phone has a built in 5 mega pixel camera which operates at a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. As a means of helping the user to take effective pictures, autofocus is provided. The ability to record and playback video is also available and offers an alternative to photographs.
The HTC Hero’s main focus is centred on the 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touch screen which can display 65,000 colours. Images displayed are clear, crisp and colourful. To access functionality the Hero uses the multi-touch input method as well as a trackball similar to the HTC Magic and G2 Touch models. Both of these elements are responsive to use and effective, as is the screens ability to correct the aspect of images by virtue of the accelerometer sensor.

Downloaded music and video can be played on this new HTC handset thanks to the inclusion of an MP3/MP4. Many audio and video file formats can be played including MP3, MP4 AAC+ and WAV. This ensures that most downloaded music files can be played and enjoyed whilst on the move. The HTC Hero comes with internal memory of 288 Mb RAM and 512 Mb ROM.
Internet access is offered by way of the HSDPA and Wi-Fi connections with speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps possible, which ensures fast web browsing. GPRS, EDGE, Blue tooth and miniUSB are integrated and ensure maximum connectivity, for a variety of purposes. An additional and increasingly common feature is the GPS with A-GPS support function, which offers satellite navigation.
At the core of the Hero phone is the Qualcomm MSM 7200A 528 MHz processor and the Android operating system. These have become synonymous as excellent elements and reliable. The HTC Hero measures 112mm x 56 mm wide and 14 mm thick. It is a phone which delivers on all counts. It is simple and effective in every way and has given HTC a winning product.
