A new candy-bar format dual SIM card phone from Samsung has now been given a release date and launch price, the Samsung D780 breaks trend with the usual touch screen and slide dual SIM offerings from the Samsung DuoS range and opts instead for a low priced and affordable alternative to the £200.00+ current models.

These currently include the touch screen Samsung B5702 and the sliding Samsung D880 both of which are more expansive than this latest mid-range model.

The Samsung D780 will suit anyone currently on a budget in need of a dual SIM Samsung phone, the D780 still manages to offer a practical feature set despite its low price including a 2.0 mega pixel camera with video support, FM Radio and MP3 player but the obvious USP for this latest handset is its ability to operate 2 SIM cards together.

The twin SIM technology of the D780 means that you can run two SIM cards at the same time, this means that both SIM Cards are active to receive calls and text and the SIM management displays which SIM is receiving the message or call on screen.

Using twin call management technology the Samsung D780 allows you to set up two phonebooks across 2 SIM cards, possibly one for business and the other personal, you then have the option to deactivate either one when you do not want to be disturbed by that caller group. A prime example might be whilst not at work turning off your business SIM card and only accepting calls from friends and family on your personal SIM.

This same 2 SIM technology also has other advantages, for example if you knew you would be entering into territories that have a weak signal on one network but stronger on another you can guarantee that you can still be contacted with the 2 SIM cards from the different networks on-board.

Other features of the Samsung D780 include Voice Memo, Built-in Handsfree, Document Viewer, MicroSD card expansion up to 2GB, Mobile Printing, USB, Bluetooth, GPRS, Web Browser and Vibration Alert.

The Samsung D780 will be available as a SIM Free and unlocked mobile phone from September 30th with an initial retail price of £139.99.
