Samsung Genio Goes Pro – Samsung B5310 Corby Pro
You may be forgiven for thinking the new and strangely named Samsung Corby touch screen phone (AKA Samsung Genio Touch) was to be a one off release but it seems that it also has a bigger brother, launching alongside the Samsung S3650 is a new Corby/Genio model with a full slide-out Qwerty keyboard called the Corby Pro/ Samsung Genio Pro.
Also known as the Samsung B5310 the new GenioPRO looks very similar to the original Genio in the closed position but reveals a beautifully designed Qwerty keyboard when open. This new Samsung phone offers the same 2.8″ touch screen offering 230 x 240 pixel resolution with 16 million colours and also adds some new technology into the mix.
The Samsung Genio Pro adds WLAN, GPS and HSDPA into the mix making this a far more attractive offering than its teen focused sibling, the extra keyboard and hardware does add more weight to this new Samsung model taking it from the 93g of the original Samsung Corby to 135g with the Corby Pro, the B5310 does offer an upgraded 3.2 mega pixel camera and also a larger 100mb of internal memory expandable up to a substantial 16GB with MicroSD cards.
The other standard features of the original Samsung Corby are also found in the new CorbyPro including Stereo Bluetooth, TouchWiz interface, Quad-band support, GPRS and EDGE technology, entertainment features include an FM Radio and MP3 player with 3.5mm jack plug, the overall dimensions of the B5310 are 105.0 x 56.8 x 15.7 mm compared with 103 × 57 × 13mm of the S3650, both models offer exchangeable back covers.

Samsung B5310 CorbyPro
The Samsung CorbyPro makes for a grown-up alternative to their recently launched Samsung B3310 which like the original S3650 Corby model is aimed at the youth market, the B5310 Corby Pro looks far more refined in its minimalistic design and the slide-out keyboard finished in a metallic red looks fantastic.
There is a planned 3rd Corby model taking the guise of a ‘SamBerry’ with a full Qwerty keypad on the front of the phone, this B3210 model also known as the Samsung CorbyTXT is aimed at social networkers and those who want fast text input, we’ll cover more about the Samsung Corby TXT in a further post soon.
The Samsung Corby (S3650) is due for release by the end of this month whilst the new Samsung Corby Pro is pencilled-in for a November release date.
