The 2.0 inch vibrant display screen offers the ability to display 256,000 colours at a size of 240 x 320 pixels. An accelerometer sensor is built in and ensures images are displayed in their correct aspect as defined by their dimensions. As the Sony Jalou is a flip phone its customary for a secondary display screen to be offered which negates the need to open the Jalou to find out whose ringing or to tell the time.

The Sony Ericsson Jalou comes with an impressive 3.15 megapixel camera which offers the ability to take effective snapshots whilst on the move. The camera operates at a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and includes geo tagging as well as video capture at QVGA quality and at 15 frames per second. A useful video light is included which offers illumination whilst recording video for low light situations. Video calling is also available.
The HSDPA connection offers internet access whilst on the move at a creditable 3.6 Mbps. Additional connection elements include HSCSD, GPRS EDGE, Blue tooth and USB. This veritable menagerie of connectivity ensures the Sony Jalou can transfer files, synchronise with a PC and send and receive SMS as well as many other options.
The Jalou comes with MP3 and MP4 player capabilities, whilst a stereo FM radio offers the ability to listen to local and nationally available radio stations. The combination of these two elements offers hours of entertainment. For those who may need reminding of important events or appointments, an organiser is included as well as a voice memo recorder for taking oral notes on the fly.
