Samsung Blade Review – Samsung S5600v Blade Review

The new Samsung Blade has now been released as a network exclusive mobile phone on Vodafone in the UK, taking much of what’s on offer from the existing Samsung S5600 the network has rebranded the Samsung Blade as the Samsung S5600v.

The Samsung Blade is an impressive looking mobile phone. Its style encapsulates the phone; it’s simple, appealing and easy to use, all of which adds up to an appealing phone which will become a popular handset, of that there is no doubt. It is relatively small in size measuring only 102 mm x 54 mm wide and only 12 mm thick.

Also known by its model name as the Samsung S5600v the main element of the Samsung Blade is the 2.8 inch TFT touch screen which displays 16 million colours within a size of 240 x 320 pixels. The colours stand out and offer true colour representation. The touch screen, as the focal point of the phone provides access to the majority of the functions. The accelerometer sensor auto rotates images to either landscape or portrait, dependant upon their optimum aspect ratio.

Internet is offered through the HSDPA connection with speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps which with the integrated GPRS, EDGE offer a multitude of connectivity options. The integral Bluetooth and USB offer file sharing and synchronisation capabilities.

The Samsung Blade offers a 3.15 mega pixel camera which has a resolution of 2048 x 1536. A useful LED flash offers means of illumination, with the handy smile detection on hand to ensure timing and clarity of picture are correct. The camera also provides the means to record and playback video at QVGA quality and at 15 frames per second. Video calls can be made by using the built in secondary camera.

Music is provided by the MP3 player, which will comfortably play all major audio file formats including MP3, AAC, and WMA. Additional tools from the Blade include the Shazam find music service, which provides a way to locate details of many songs. The FM stereo radio provides an alternative to downloaded music.
