Nokia and Skype have got together and as a result the Nokia N97 will be getting the full Skype experience.  In fact this is true of all Nokia devices but the Nokia N97 will lead the way as the flagship phone for adding the new feature. 

With the addition of the Skype VoIP service users can make Skype to Skype calls over the internet FREE of charge to anywhere in the world.  This includes PC to PC calls, video calls and chatting to Skype contacts using instant messaging and by incorporating the Skype experience into the phone’s address book Nokia N97 users will be able to see which of their Skype contacts are currently online.

Skype users can still send SMS messages, call landlines and other mobile devices as well as forward their calls when offline at a very low rate offering great value for money and meaning that you can spend more time catching up and less time worrying about how much it’s costing you.

Like with the 3 Skypephone S2 and other Skype phones developed under the 3 Skypephone brand and by INQ Mobile, users can connect to Windows Live Messenger, Facebook and Google using an HSDPA high speed data connection or WLAN.  With an estimated 400 million skype users worldwide the integration of Skype to Nokia NSeries devices seems a logical step in their progression.

Nokia are hoping to have all development finished ready for a release in the third quarter of 2009.
