We earlier reported that the new X1 Xperia had been given a confirmed release date by Vodafone in the UK of the 17th October 2008, well we can now inform you that both the Black and SILVER editions of this new smartphone from Sony Ericsson are going to be available as SIM Free handset from 31st October.

This is great news for those not wanting to sign up to a contract deal or who simply cannot pass the credit checks set by the networks, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 SIM Free is unlocked to all UK networks so that customers can use their existing SIM card and retain their mobile number and contacts list.
