The next Blackberry phone release has already caused a headache when it comes to what to call it but we now have an official release date from Vodafone of when this new handset is set to hit the shops.

The Blackberry Storm which is also known as the 9500 / 9530 and also the Thunder just to confuse matters is going to be available from Vodafone for pre-order between 8th and 22nd of October this year, the network will receive actual stock on the 22nd to fulfill the pre-orders.

Vodafone are now going to run with the name: Blackberry Storm, however it is possible that other networks and retailers may stock this handset under a different name.

The moral of the story as always is to research all the names of the model you are looking for and then search under all of them to get the best deal possible.

Originally announced as the Blackberry 9500 Thunder, the device is now to be released as the Blackberry 9500 / 9530 Storm.

With no actual keypad or keyboard, the Blackberry Storm sports just 4 keys on the front display from which to operate functions, hence why the full touchscreen.  These keys include send & end (power off) phone keys, menu and escape/back.  Dedicated keys for volume control, camera access and music are still located on the side panels.

Boasting a full Touchscreen, the Blackberry Storm is the latest Blackberry smartphone to be announced.  Exclusive to Vodafone, the Blackberry Storm is the first in the Blackberry 9000 Series to feature a fully fledged touchscreen measuring 360 x 480 and featuring accelerometer technology for automatic display rotation.

3G enabled, the Blackberry 9530 Storm is powered by a 624Mhz processor and runs Blackberry’s new operating system v4.7.0.  Not only does it offer 3G connectivity but support HSDPA High Speed Data and UMTS.

Equipped with a fully fledged media player for listening to music and playing videos, the Blackberry Storm supports picture & video blogging for all you social networking addicts.
