I think I need one of these – Vodafone have some indication that they should have them this month (July) – that said I’m not holding my breath.

I asked instore at Orange yesterday and they said that they were expecting the Blackberry Bold in anytime soon (meaning any time in July).
My contract on my current phone has ended and I really want the bold! It would just be nice to be given a definate date!

According to other website, Blackberry bold release date has been pushed back to mid August now. Apparently there are issues with battery life. Hopefully that is fixed by that time. Rather wait the extra time , then getting a shitty iphone sort of battery life

From what I’ve read it doesn’t have handwriting recogniton I’m afraid.

Vodafone business UK say that it will be available on the 3rd, but may be pre-orderable once they have all the handset/pricing details on the system.
August 1st, 2008 at 12:01 pm
I spoke with O2 Business this morning who claim it will not be with them to mid-September and this includes all other vendors as well, apparently.

Carphone Waerhouse has stated they will have this handset by late August…in there magazines….visit a store or call customer service/ or your network, ?I heard it’s coming out on O2 first

Vodafone online store now listing as ‘expected in September’
August 19th, 2008 at 9:56 am
I have talked to the vodafone press office and they say it will be the 1st September

Why don’t you people wake up and look around at the sites, this is already available on the Orange website here in the UK. It is only being released in Europe for now. Vodafone will have it soon enough, but o2 customers will have to wait till around mid Sept.

Hi all,
In response to Clever lad – yes he is right orange do have them but it is very hard to get them from the shops unless your the first person in front of the shop door. Orange have pulled a batch of faulty Blackberry bolds off stock I dont know the reason i was just told alot got taken off. So beware if you buying from Orange themselves, As in release dates for providers here are the confirmed dates for all providers:
16th August was obviously Orange
1st September = Vodafone
8th September = O2
16th(could be later or earlier)= T-Mobile UK.
As i said at the moment O2 and VODAFONE will recieve stock of the blackberrys throughout the week til the end of the month the reason why they arent going to sell them to us the consumers is that 1. they want enough to give out to their customers and 2. they will recieve extensive testing before they are released to us. O2 and Vodafone are the two networks you will want to go to get a reliable and problem free blackberry bold 9000.
Orange didnt do enough testing and thats why they had to pull a batch of them off and plus at the moment orange only ship 2-3 models to each store so unless your a business customer its going to be very hard to get hold of one.
The blackberry bold is a terrific phone but for all those eager beavers it is worth the wait for the fully tested model rather getting one that hasnt been tested and just given to the customers like Orange have done. I do hope this information has been useful to all of you.

IVE BEEN INFORMED BY O2 ITS SOMETIME IN OCTOBER NOW. IT WAS INITIALLY WEEK COMMENCEING 15TH SEPTEMBER
September 8th, 2008 at 11:12 am
I too have just spoken to o2 who initially said that the release date was 2nd week in September.
They informed me that the Bold has just been through 02’s thorough pre-release testing and has actually failed due to a software bug on the phone.
The o2 representative was unable to state a release date, stating that it was now completey back in RIM’s hands for them to fix the bug and then be re-submitted through o2’s testing procedures.
The representative was unable to confirm what part of the software had failed, but it would be interesting to know seen as it is now available on o2.

This from my IT support team:
““Please note that to ensure O2’s customers get an optimum experience, O2 has a very tough set of accreditation tests that all handsets are measured against before launch. The software on the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9000 has not yet met the minimum standard required by O2 but O2 is working closely with RIM to get an acceptable version of software. We should expect to launch this in October”
So there you go.

just letting you know because ive been watching this page for updates!
October 17th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
just letting you guys know, if your an o2 customer and due an upgrade. ask for customer retentions team and tell advisor youve been offered a better deal elsewere and your thinking of cancelling. push for a £15 line rental discount or if you have the nerve ask for a 40% as some off my friends who have just upgraded have been offered this line rental discount for life with an extra bolt on for free. you need to ask or the retention team wnt offer the discounts to you. if they say no then tell them you dnt want to leave but as it stands you have no choice but to cancel. you need to mention the word “cancel”. the package that i got was 1400 mins (thats an extra 200 mins for free) , free unlimited blackberry web, and i pushed for 40% discount for life off the original 45pound fee, 1000 text and free handset (should be £49.99) all for £27p/m. i did pay for an extra bolt on on top (cant be too cheeky and get everything for free) o2-o2 calls bringing it upto £34.50. i even asked for an 8gb memory card as a loyal customer as the other provider was offering free blue tooth headset as well. they may say they dnt have them for blackberry yet. if so, tell them i believe the nokia 95 memory cards is compatible with the blackberry bold device. ENJOY your haggle!!!!
